The Birth of BRF’s Paluto Business.Paluto means, the customers have the freedom to pick from the array of fresh ingredients and have it cooked the way they want it.Paluto concept is no longer new in the Philippines’ dining industry. As far back as more than 20 years ago, Paluto concept was already existing.
How did BRF got into Paluto? It was in 2012 when a newly opened Supermarket invited us to operate the kitchen inside their selling area. Their unique selling proposition was that, “we cook your food while you shop”.
Because of the ever - evolving lifestyle of the working class (housemaids in every filipino household is no longer a standard, young and old working parents have little time to attend to their domestic duties, families who want to bond on weekends avoid the hassle of food preparation and dealing with their “dirty” kitchens, and other time management issues), the Paluto Services became a HIT.
But as a brief background, when the Paluto contract was offered to us, we were at first reluctant because our only experience in food preparation then was for the pre-cooked, food to go food items, and for the record, there was no Service provider of Paluto operations in the Supermarket industry in the entire archipelago (thus we did not have any benchmark at all), until we accepted the offer.
What gave us the confidence was that we just did our homework and prayers, prayers, prayers. In a very brief time, we were able to study the Paluto Industry based on the casual dining setting. After 2 years of operating the PALUTO business with that Supermarket, we did not continue anymore due to some contract issues.
Again, in April 2016, another invitation came from the group of Manny Villar (whose main business is in the Real Properties and Lands) because he ventured into the retail business.Modesty aside, again, the PALUTO operations was a hit and PALUTO actually became the FACE of the 12 branches of that supermarket (ALL DAY Supermarket) scattered in the North, East, West, South parts of the country.
The initial plan was that, the Paluto services would only cater to “to go” orders. However, people prefer to dine inside the supermarket and in fact, the management eventually provided dining tables and chairs due to customers’ demands.
But even while we were operating the 12 branches, relatives and friends never stopped from prodding us to put up our own. Admittedly, owning a stand-alone restaurant is one of the items in our bucket list and the rest is history.
As of this writing, we are just a 2 week-old casual dining restaurant, but surprisingly, the customers’ in flow is so inspiring! Our restaurant highlights fresh seafoods. We partnered with one of the biggest seafoods supplier in the industry.
Their operations are also scattered where the sea ports are. That is why, it is safe to claim that we may be one of the seafoods restaurants that offer the freshest seafoods and the most reasonable cooking services in the casual dining category.
Our Vision for the Walang Kupas at Paborito Mong Paluto Restaurant is for it to become part of the lifestyle of the communities around it. We want to be the customers top of mind whenever they want to celebrate occasions or just simply want to satisfy their hunger.
We want to connect with the youngs and the olds and as they experience our food, we will be able to contribute in keeping the Filipino food culture, with the presence of the so many foreign tasting foods and fusion concepts as well.
Because our Paluto menus are just simply Filipino, only served flavor-fully. Visit them at Tiendisitas GF, Address: Ortigas Ave. cor E. Rodriquez Ave. (C-5), Pasig City, Philippines 1604 and of see more info and pictures here facebook.com/Palutorestaurant
